Orrington – Donald P. Pelkey, Sr., 89, husband of the late Vera A. (Dorr) Grant Pelkey, died Sept 26, 2022 in Bangor. He was born July 11, 1933 in Fort Fairfield, the son of John and Rose (Greenier) Pelkey.

Donald was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and worked for St. Regis Paper and Champion Paper in Bucksport for 40 years from which he retired. Don loved and embraced his blended family and always made time for them after long work days. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing and he loved spending time in Baxter State Park with family and friends making lifelong memories.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Pelkey, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Orrington, Danny Pelkey and his wife, Laurie of Brewer, two stepsons, Brian Grant and his significant other, Florence of Hermon, Gary Grant and his wife, Joanne of Orrington; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Grant of Brewer; his four children from his first marriage, Tom Pelkey, Donna Jacobson, Susan Westfall and Linda Howard; 11 grandchildren who called him  Grampy and Papa, Tangie, Christy and Angela, Landon and Addison, Thomas, Evan and Casey, Brian and Melissa and Mark; several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepsons, Leon Grant and Mark Grant.

A graveside service for both Vera and Donald with military honors will be held 10 AM Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 at Marston Cemetery, Snows Corner Road, Orrington. A reception will be immediately afterward at the Lighthouse Church of God, 696 River Road, Orrington. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
