Dear Phil and Family, I am so sorry to hear Mary Ellen has left us. She was a wonderful person, full of fun. So many great memories of us working together, so many years ago, but seems like yesterday. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I am lucky to have had such a loving grandmother in my life, not only towards me but my wife and kids as well. Nana welcomed my wife, Carmen, with open arms when we first started dating in 2013 and was the first family member to create a loving, family-like relationship with her. My children (Nana's 3 Great-Grand Children) were fortunate to be able to spend time with Nanny McTigue. The kids loved to go see Nanny and Grampy at their house and camp, mainly because of the fun and laughter they would experience regularly. It always brought great joy to Carmen and I seeing the kids with their Nanny and we all know the time spent with the kids brought joy to Nanny.
Throughout my life I have had many influences on who I have become. There are truly not enough words to express how much of an impact Nana and Grampy Phil have had on me and my family, whether it be directly through them or forwarded through my parents. Nana and Grampy were a true lifelong team that anyone would dream to replicate in their own lives. I am grateful to have had Nana in my life and she will forever be missed and loved. Thank you Nana for everything.

Nana was the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She was always loving and supportive of us grandchildren. Her smile and humor was always present at dinners and other get togethers. There are endless stories of Nana that we’ll cherish forever (some at her expense, sorry Nana!).
To me her greatest accomplishment was her love and marriage with Grampy. They’re the pillars of our family. Without their example we would not be the people we are today. They raised two strong daughters and five good grandchildren. Her selflessness and love for her family is something I will always try to emulate.
Nana be missed greatly by all who were blessed to know her. Nana, I love you.

I am so incredibly blessed to write down a few words of remembrance for such an amazing woman.
Mary Ellen was an amazing wife, mother, sister and grandmother. I have had the honor of knowing her as my mother-in-law for the past 23 years.
Mary Ellen was fortunate to be able to retire at a very young age. I believe it was mainly to take care of and be present for her family. I have never known anyone that was more family oriented than her. Phil, Eileen and Deirdre were 100% perfect in her eyes. I know this to be a fact as I heard it from her often over the years.
Mary Ellen had a huge part of the raising of our two children, Cassidy and Bryce. If she wasn't spoiling them, she was taking care of them while Deirdre and I worked.
I certainly will miss her at all of our family functions as she was always there to share her great sense of humor and stories. One of my favorite stories Mary Ellen would tell was the first night I picked up Deirdre for a date. She later told me that she went through the woods and hid behind a tree across the street to see who this person was taking her daughter out on a date.
I will miss Mary Ellen's beaming smile. Mary Ellen was a happy person all day, every day. I loved her red cheeks, her beautiful smile and her laughter.
The most important characteristic that I will remember about Mary Ellen was her last several years in that I knew that she was drawn ever closer to her Lord and Savior. Her daily trips to church, prayer and dedication to her faith is the real reason all of her loved ones including myself, can have peace knowing that she is with God. Her incredible youthful dance moves as I write this are now being performed on the streets of gold in Heaven.
I love you, Mary Ellen! I will see you again in Paradise.

My nana will live on forever in my heart. When I was a little girl, she was the person who would pick me up from preschool, the woman who gave me tubs, and treated me like her little doll. Dressing me up and doing my hair, always making sure I was the most stylish, so I could follow in her footsteps. My nana loved to cook for my brother, Bryce, and I. Her tastiest meals were tacos and beef stew! Nana also taught me how to make bread and dinner rolls, which we have made together for some family occasions. I have countless memories with nana. Thanksgiving 2022 we were jamming out to the Bee Gee’s in her car together while she drove my brother and I home. Christmas 2022, nana was on my team with Grampy, and Bryce playing charades. At every 4th of July, our family has a cornhole tournament. No one ever wanted to be on Nana’s team, or mine, and we would always make jokes to each other about how we were the worst and no one wanted us, but her and I had each other! Nana loved to have me climb up and sit in her lap, even now that I am grown and big. When I was young and my brother and I would have a sleepover at her house, we would wait until my brother fell asleep and I would go into her room and she would scratch my back and play with my hair. My nana would always let you know her opinion, good or bad, but it was always from a place of love. Everything nana said, everything nana did, came from love. I will always be blessed to have had her in my life, and to have had her take such great care of me. There will never be another woman quite like her, but her memory and spirit will shine on forever.

Thank you nana for always being able to give me a good laugh. Everytime I would come over I would always have food ready and you’d always be asking about my social life and lately you were always asking about a new terrain! I think grampy might’ve softened up if we would’ve stayed at him. Thank you for always coming to all my sporting events with grampy and I will miss you till I am gone.

I haven’t really thought of Mary Ellen as my mother in law since shortly after I married her daughter Eileen. Mary Ellen has lived a full life as an incredible great-grandmother, grandmother and mother for all of us. I couldn’t have expected any more love from my own mother then I have received from this wonderful lady. I think that is why I considered her as my mother and not as my mother in law.
Mary Ellen, thank you for all the hard work you put into the telephone company, all while raising two strong independent daughters at home. I attribute the success of my wife’s and my children heavily to you. Not only because you helped in the raising of our children with there enrollment into your boot camp but also the fact that Phil and you did a perfect job raising your daughters to be good mothers.
Mary Ellen has always been totally dedicated to her family. Always available to support her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by attending anything and everything they may be participating in.
Most of all I appreciate Mary Ellen’s sense of humor. She was always looking for a smile or laugh from anyone she was with. She was a natural at that. She could create laughs just from her accent or pronunciation of words, her stories of her mischievous childhood and her cooking or even her jokes. She was also the best person to tease as she would be laughing at herself before anyone could laugh with her.
Mary Ellen had only the best Irish qualities; very religious, gift of gab, great personal charm, courteous, happy, proud of her heritage and quick-witted. She may have been a little stubborn, occasionally held a grudge or two and was never afraid to share her opinion.
Mary Ellen thank you and well done.
It is truly a blessing from GOD that I have the best mother in law.
An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

In memory of our beloved Mother.
Mom was only 77 1/2 years young passing peacefully and suddenly on December 27th, 2022. We were both fortunate to be there along with our father, to hold her hands and tell her how much we loved her.
There is never enough time. We are all grateful and comforted that in Mom's 77 1/2 years that she most certainly lived her life to the fullest, doing absolutely everything that she wanted to do.
We take comfort knowing that she is with her parents, our Nana and Grampy in heaven. Mom talked about her parents all the time and how much she missed them both.
Dad was the love and light of her life. Mom told countless stories over the years of how they met and how he chased her to get her to date him. Our parents' love for one another was inspirational to the both of us and was something we tried to replicate in our own marriages.
The most important thing in Mom's life by far was her family. Even though our mother is gone, she left behind a legacy full of love and devotion for her family. Mom left us a legacy of love and lessons on how to love each other. She embodied the perfect example of how to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will never be the great mother that she was to us, but we will keep trying to follow her example and be more like her every day.
Our Mother’s brother and two sisters were her rocks. She would text, email or talk to them daily. She loved them very much and would keep us updated on any new family news. Mom loved both of us unconditionally and fiercely. She was kind, loving, caring and supportive. We could not have picked a better mother for us... because there was no better Mother than ours. Mom loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to brag about them all, it did not matter what they were doing...she thought they were the best at everything they did.
Knowing how much family meant to Mom, her last few days on earth were filled with family. We all spent Christmas Eve all together at Mom and Dad's house. We were all together again on Christmas Day. We all shared, great food, lots of laughs and lots of love. Having her family together in one spot and celebrating anything made our mother extremely happy.
The love she gave us all will live on through us all even though she has left us to be with God.
We found a poem from an anonymous writer that reminded us of our mother.
We had a wonderful Mother
One who never really grew old
Her smile was made of sunshine
And her heart was solid gold
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars
And her cheeks fair roses you see
We had a wonderful Mother
And that's the way it will always be
Mom, we will love you forever.

To Phil and the family of MaryEllen,
Please accept my sincere condolences for the unexpected passing of MaryEllen. I am a classmate and close friend of her sister,Joan. I grew up with the Ford kids on Otis Street in Bangor from about the 6th grade to graduation from High School. I even went to Chemo Pond with them when invited. Even though I haven’t had any contact with MaryEllen since the late 50’s I’m still in contact with Joan. I want to keep MaryEllen’s memory alive with the planting of a tree. May God bless you all ! Sincerely , Rita Allen and Family . Moore ,Oklahoma
