last year one of my good friends who is a purple heart recipient and disabled Vietnam veteran was headed home and ran out of gas in holden. Chief Greeley stopped not to harass and bother but to help and he not only helped but filled the gas tank with his own money and helped get my friend safely back on the road and made sure he was able to make it home. My friend doesn't have a cell phone to call for help and was sitting there for a while before, thank God, Chief Greeley stopped to help. out of all the cars that passed by the entire time he stopped and for the right reasons and forever we will be grateful and thankful for people like you in this world and hope more will follow by your example because you treated everyone with respect compassion and care. Thank you! you truly made a difference for good and are a true hero.

It’s a shock to hear of Chris’s passing. He was such a vital and dynamic human being, whose transition obviously, will leave a tremendous void for so many people. I’ve known Chris virtually my whole life— from early Saint John’s School years— to his leather pants-wearing rocker days— on through to more seasoned times as a dad and community leader. Chris was/is a star, who packed a lot of living… a lot of creativity… into his 60 years on this Earth. He was a friend always. And it dawns on me now that Chris is a person who would probably do anything within his power to help me out, if ever I was in need. And that’s quite a thing in this life. While I know that Chris surely yearned to have been able to fulfill his physical presence with loved ones during this lifetime, I am certain that he is also gloriously happy in his new adventure... at his new home... on the infinite stage! Where he is able to BE and DO it all! Not least for his family, for whom he now can orchestrate, without constraint, all manner of opportunity and joy! Heck, he can even now reconstitute his beloved 1970s Starsky and Hutch sweater! There is no limit for Chris. My heart goes out to Missy, Keith, Gabby, Vicky, Donna, Cole, Ali and Samantha. I regret that I could not be there with you all for Chris’s service, due to my distance from Maine. I’d surely like to connect with Missy, et. al. Should you be interested, I can be found on LinkedIn. Love you all! —Tommy

It has been amazing to see how Chris has been recognized and honored by the community. I met Chris as a young man and have watched him over the years as he became the man people know and admire.
My heart goes out to his family, especially his sister, Missy, as I know how much she loved him. I hope you all find peace in the memories you have and will hold dearly in your hearts.

I met him once; very nice man.
When I lived in Eddington, I was a member of North-Brewer Eddington United Methodist Church. I am still on their email list. They sent out an email message that included the following in their list of concerns: Friends and family of Police Chief Chris Greeley Holden Police Department. Thought it might comfort you to know that people are praying for you (including me.)

Although we knew Chris briefly, we were well aware of his generosity in giving to communities, those in
need and to his very gracious fund raising projects. We benefited from his donation to “Rock Steady Boxing” and the many patients stricken with Parkinson’s Disease through Maine Parkinson’s Society. He will certainly be missed. Our condolences go out to family.
