Obituary of Suzanne E. McCurdy
Suzanne E. McCurdy, 78, wife of Dennis McCurdy passed peacefully, May 25, 2023 surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 19, 1944 in Bangor, the daughter of George H. and Amanda (Hafford) Vereault.
Sue graduated in 1962 from Bangor High School where she was nominated and won Princess of ROTC. After graduating high school, she worked at Zayre’s Dept. Store where she met the love of her life, Dennis McCurdy. Mom and Dad married in 1964 and lasted for 59 years. They started their family by welcoming their first child Denny (DJ) and 3 years later their daughter Michelle arrived. Sue worked for 35 years at Sears and Roebuck and during this time she acquired another full time job becoming a Grammy to her sweet grandchildren Brittany, Makenzie, Cassy and Cameron. Years later she earned the title of Mamie to her Great Grandchildren Ivy Jane and Ellie Mae and would be soon welcoming her first Great Grandson in November. Although in 2004 when she became a kidney transplant recipient she always continued to be her grandchildren’s number one fan at all their sporting events. Sue found the time to incorporate her dream as a snowbird in Florida where she met many friends near and far. Sue lived life to the fullest and although recently when health started to deteriorate it never kept her from being the best wife, mother, Grammy and Mamie.
Sue leaves behind her husband of 59 years Dennis McCurdy of Brewer; two children, Dennis J. McCurdy and his wife Joann (Jojo) of Lantana, Florida and Michelle Green and her husband, David of Brewer; four grandchildren, Brittany McCurdy, Mackenzie Gombinski and her husband, Jon, Cassy and Cameron Green; two great grandchildren, Ivey Jane and Ellie Mae Dawes. Soon to arrive in November her sweet baby great grandson.
