On behalf of the McAvey family I want to thank everyone for their kind words and memories. My mother was one of a kind. She raised 4 children and worked tirelessly to keep us clean and fed. She and Dad made sure we had manners and that we respected our elders. My mother always set the bar high and I’ve spent a lifetime trying to follow her example. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do and you couldn’t tell her any different. She loved people and was always welcoming to anyone she met. The state highway dept was doing some major work in front of her home and when they were finishing up she invited the whole crew in her home and cooked them a huge spread of food and dessert. Who does that….my sweet mother. She will be so missed but I know she is in a better place and I will see her again. Sheryl McAvey Champagne

I truly never thought this day would come. You were so vibrant, full of life. You could outwork all of us, both young and old. There never seems to be enough time to spend with your loved ones and I definitely didn’t get enough time with you. I’m so thankful you were able to meet and love my
children. I’ll miss you terribly. Tell Paw and Aunt Renny I miss them too. Love you.

Nana, I can’t believe you’re gone. You made my childhood so special and continued be such a large part of my life for all 33 years. You were the matriarch of the family, you welcomed anyone with open arms along with some homemade fudge or molasses cookies. You ran circles around me, mowing lawns, planting your gardens, feeding the birds, cleaning the pool even though you didn’t like to swim. I will never forget the times we shared. The good times and not so good times. You will forever be missed by Joe and I, please give Hank and Flyer kisses for us until we see you again.

What a wonderful woman with a lifetime of love, kindness, and a giving spirit. My mother and I had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with her and instantly felt her warm hospitable spirit. She truly loved her family and demonstrated a self sacrificing spirit in their behalf. Our hearts hurt for her family and friends. Special Vermont love goes out to Chelcie, Joe, Wayne, Linda, Greg, Steph and Bob.

The first time I ever met this beautiful lady, she welcomed me and my family into her home whole heartedly. The first thing she said was, “I’m a hugger” and gave all of us big Phyllis hugs!

I remember spending many days at parties she thru in the basement of the home she had on Croghan road. I even remember thinking I was being chased by a wolf or what I thought was a wolf as a child in her back yard now I know it was someone's German Shepard. So many fond memories of going to her house.
