Brewer & Mattawamkeag - Lois Foss, 78, passed away July 31, 2023. She was born in Houlton, April 1, 1945, the daughter of Everett and Mary (Page) Barker.

Lois graduated from Sherman High School, Class of 1963. She was a Life Member of the Ladies Aux. to the VFW and a member of the Mattawamkeag United Methodist Church. She was very involved in the Mattawamkeag community; volunteering with the SHARE program, the planning committee for the veteran’s memorial in Mattawamkeag as well as a trustee for the Mattawamkeag library. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and helping anyone in need.

She was predeceased by her foster parents Royce and Thelma Sleeper; husband and best friend Malcolm (Mickey) Foss; daughter Machele Foss Towle; sister Barbara Barker; brothers Wendell Barker, Gary Barker, Ellery Barker, Ernest Barker, Sheldon Barker; foster brothers Allan, Fred, Leo and David Sleeper and wife Janet Sleeper; sister-in-law Barbara Smith and husband Trevor; sister-in-law Jean Bishop and husband Norman; sister-in-law Marilyn Noddin and husband Charles.  Lois is survived by daughter Barbara Bruns and husband Robert of Brewer; grandchildren Brittany and Logan Towle and Jessica Bruns; son-in-law Morris Towle; brother Clifford Barker and wife Janet; brother Frederick Barker and partner Barbara Djavaheri; brother Peter Shaw and wife Darlene; brother Dale Barker; sister Astrid Torjusrod and husband John; foster sister-in-law Frances Sleeper; brother-in-law Wesley Foss and wife Carole; several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice: Melissa, Pam, and Jessika, as well as Woodlands of Brewer where Lois made her home for the past four years.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Road to Refuge Animal Sanctuary, 135 Warner Rd., North Haven, CT 06473.

Family and friends are invited to visit 10-11 A.M., Monday, August 14, 2023, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held at the end of visiting.  Private family burial will take place at Mattawamkeag Cemetery at a later date.  Messages and memories may be shared at kileyandfoley.com
