John G. Bartol

Brewer - John G. Bartol, husband of Madelene Bartol of Brewer, died peacefully the morning of June 10, 2016, at The Woodlands. He was born Nov 4, 1918 in Springfield, PA, son of Jacob and Martha (Marowfka) Bartol.

He graduated from Coal Township High School and attended Villinova University and the College of Aeronautics in Flushing, NY. He was employed by Northeast Airlines and Delta Airlines until he retired in 1981. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing until a stroke in 1991. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Pine Cone Council, Bangor.

Surviving are his wife Madelene of 68 years, daughter Barbara Bartol of Windham, sons Curtis and Anne of Glenville, NY, John Jr. and wife Lynda of Zephyrhills, FL, and James and wife Marcia of Brewer, ten grandchildren: Kristin Markworth, John Schultz, Gina Cook, Ian Bartol, Michael Emmons, Jessica Bartol, John Bartol III, James Bartol, Jr. and Joseph Bartol; and six great-grandchildren: Madeleine and Shannon Cook, Kai and Darya Bartol, Ben and Elise Markworth. John is survived by a sister Alma Fasciott of Broomall, PA. He was predeceased by sisters, Katherine Bartol and Mary Gabriel, and brothers Rev. Msgr Thomas, Lawrence, Stanley, Walter, Daniel, and grandson Danny Brown.

Family and friends may visit 5 – 7 PM Monday, June 13, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St, Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 425 South Main St, Brewer. A time of friendship and refreshments will be immediately afterward and interment will be at a later date in Oakfield.
