When I arrived in Bangor in 1987, I was fortunate enough to meet 2 incredible people. Tom Valley and Mike Eremita. These two men defined what the best of the best could be. I will always remember, fondly, these two great men.

One Fall evening I got a call to come to Tony’s house to see the moose. When I arrived Tom greeted me as he always did. “Hey Harland, how are you” along with a great handshake. I asked where the moose was and he pointed to the back of a truck and we walked together. I said, “Wow, what a beauty.” as I reached out to touch it. Just then Tom said “too bad it was covered with Ticks…”. I jumped back about 3 feet to find Tom laughing. He got me again.
The man was full of fun, love for family, warmth and generosity for all. I will miss his quick wit.
RIP my friend.

When I came into the Valley family years ago, Tom and Marie welcomed me as their own; I considered them my second set of parents. Through the years, we would spend many meals, late Christmas Eve nights assembling toys for my children, and weekly three-hour long card games during which we would laugh until we cried. As the baby of five, my husband Johnny could do no wrong in his mother's eye; Marie would support and agree with Johnny whether he was spot on, or maybe a little in the wrong. And Johnny in return, would do the same for his sweet mother. Tom and I soon developed a defensive alliance to survive arguments, and we affectionately called each other "Support Person." While we wavered more than the Marie and Johnny bond, we were united to the end.
Tom's/Pappy's loss has left a whole in my heart impossible to fill. He was a far better father-in-law than I could have imagined. He was so kind and thoughtful as father, grandfather and advisor. Tom Valley was not just my father-in--law, he was one of my best friends. I will forever miss my Support Person.

I have for years been an admirer of Pappy and Nana’s love likely without them ever really knowing it. I could just watch them forever at breakfast when I would end up at the same local restaurant. It’s hard to put into words but the love could be felt instantly. I do believe that love will be in the air for eternity.

Although I did not know Tom & Marie well personally, they are two of the most gracious, welcoming and hospitable people I have met. When we moved to Holden in 2003, Tom & Marie were among the first to stop and say hello and welcome us to the neighborhood. Tom had impeccable timing and seemed to happen upon us in an inquisitive manner whenever the car was being boosted, a tire was being changed, belts were being put back on the mower or we were digging our way out of the snow bank. Always had friendly smile and greeting. Sincere condolences to Marie and the entire Valley Family. Thoughts, prayers and blessings.

Mr. Valley and his family were like my second family growing up. We lived across the street, and I was in and out of that house more times than I could ever count and always felt welcome. I was so sad to hear of his passing. My love and sympathy goes out to all of his family. I wish you all peace in the days ahead. XO
