John Douglas Blaisdell

BANGOR- John Douglas Blaisdell, 61, died on January 26, 2015 at his home in Bangor. He was born April 25, 1953 in Bangor, the son of Dr. Carl and Dorothy Blaisdell. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1971 and the University Of Maine at Orono in 1975. He continued his studies and received a PhD in veterinary history and later taught at the University of Maine at Orono. His family wants to thank Melanie Cushman for her care and thoughtfulness for John.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Poisson of Virginia Beach, VA and her daughters, Amanda Lyle and her husband Mark, of Virginia Beach, Va, and Meredith Poisson of Ocala, FL; a sister-in-law, Anita Blaisdell of Millinocket; his half brother, Loren Blaisdell who died several months after John; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his half brother, Carl Blaisdell and his wife Marilyn, his half sister, Marjorie Smith, and his brother-in-law, Paul Poisson.

Family and friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Friday, Friday June 17, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Private burial was done in the Blaisdell Lot, Blaisdell Cemetery, Sullivan. Messages and memories may be share with his family at kileyandfoley.com.
