Fond memories of growing up in South Brewer on Elm St., "a stone's throw" from the Brochu house. Melanie was the kindest Sergeant of Arms of the Brochu home and was always friendly as some of the Elm Street crew would cut through the Brochu property on a trek to South Main St. headed for Mack's Market or Don's Package Store. Was always envious of the Brochu Family because they had enough kids for an entire hockey line. The voices of Jackie Brochu and Charlie Sproul, my peewee hockey coaches, still echo in my head "Back check, Back check!" There is a large void in South Brewer with Melanie's passing.
