Vernon C. Hunt Obituary

Vernon Carlton Hunt, 85, devoted father, husband, brother and grandfather, died peacefully at home on December 23, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born June 2, 1938, in Stacyville, the son of Charles and Letha (Shaw) Hunt.  He graduated from Sherman High School in 1957.

Vernon was a US Army veteran and worked as a reserve officer for Bucksport Police Department in the early 1960’s. He began his career as a well-respected insurance agent in the mid 1970’s.  When he retired, he took up his woodworking hobby and made his children and family numerous handmade gifts. Also during retirement, he worked part-time for Affiliated Healthcare and Uniship.

He loved ministering to people in song.  He spent many years with his guitar singing gospel songs that he loved so much, and leading worship service in church.  God was the head of his household and Vern led his children by example. Vernon enjoyed his many years of volunteer work for the Salvation Army and being outdoors, taking family trips, and telling jokes and old stories to anyone who would listen!
