Obituary of Harold D Williams

Harold D. Williams, Sr., 82, of Holden, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born in Trout, West Virginia, on September 5, 1941.  Harold’s life was marked as a proud, hardworking, family man.  Harold graduated from Williamsburg High School, Williamsburg, WV in 1959, where he participated in baseball, basketball, and Future Farmers of America.  He then joined the United States Air Force and went to electrical and refrigeration training in Texas before being stationed at Dow AFB BOMARC missile site in Bangor, Maine.  It was during his time in Bangor where he met his future wife, Irene.  This past July, Irene and Harold celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

After the Air Force, Harold began his career in the maintenance department at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts.  In 1965, Harold and Irene returned to the Bangor area, where Harold would earn his Master Electrician’s License while working for Commercial Refrigeration.  In 1978, Harold went to work for the Brewer School Department, where he would spend the next 35 years as the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, before retiring in 2012. He loved to share endless stories of his time spent with friends and coworkers.  Outside of work, Harold spent time camping, fishing, attending NASCAR races, and family events.   Always willing to lend a hand, he enjoyed helping friends, family, and neighbors with their household projects, and repairs. He loved campfire cookouts with his grandchildren and trips to the coast with his wife Irene.  It was during their time in Massachusetts where he became a fan of the Boston Red Sox, often sharing memories of watching games from the center field bleachers.

Harold was predeceased by his parents Fred and Ina; step-father Morgan; sister Jane; foster son Christopher.  He is survived by his loving wife Irene; son Harold Jr. and wife Rhonda; son David and wife Madeleine; grandchildren Jaime and husband Cody, Brynn and husband Colby, Grace, Colin, Daniel, Faith, Felicity; great-grandsons, Beckett, and Brooks; siblings Raymond, and Patsy; aunt Geraldine; sister in-law Marsailes; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
