Obituary of Abundio Zuñiga Loredo
Abundio Zuñiga Loredo peacefully passed away on the morning of February 9, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family in Bangor, Maine. Abundio was born on July 11, 1930, in Cerritos, S.L.P., Mexico. Prior to immigrating to the United States under the Bracero contracted labor program in the late 1950s, Abundio was a master tailor. He worked in various fields across the country before settling in Dallas, Texas. He and his late wife, Socorro Loredo, welcomed two sons, Ángel and Alfredo. Abundio was employed as a maintenance mechanic and shared with Socorro the primary goal of providing an exceptional education for their children.
Abundio's proudest moments included witnessing his children graduate from college and the birth of his four grandchildren. He took joy in driving the family to their home in Mexico for summer and Christmas vacations to visit friends and relatives. Additionally, he found satisfaction in completing various home projects, offering his tailoring skills to his family and friends, and displaying exceptional devotion to his wife. Following Socorro's passing, Abundio spent time in Maine and Texas before living his final years in Bangor with his eldest son. He enjoyed immersing himself in the traditions of Maine and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Attending Spanish mass on Sundays at St. Teresa’s and socializing afterward with friends became one of Abundio’s cherished pastimes.
Abundio is predeceased by his father, Cornelio Loredo; mother, Maria Zuniga Loredo; wife, Maria del Socorro Loredo. He is survived by his sons Ángel and Alfredo; grandchildren Angelica, Ángel, Alejandro, and Isabella; daughters-in-law Eunice and Yvonne.
