Brewer - John R. Hodgins was born in Brewer Maine on September 9, 1950, the son of George T. and Teresa Hodgins. He passed away at his home on March 18, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
John graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School, Class of 1968 where he was involved in football, basketball, track and Key Club. On December 3, 1968, at the age of 18, John began his military career with the Air Force. He later joined the 101st Fighter Interceptor Wing, Maine Air National Guard and was assigned to Civil Engineering. He spent the remainder of his career with the 101st where he made lifelong friends and memories while serving his country retiring on July 12, 1995.
John spent over 18 years working for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier and as a private contractor prior to working for the Town of Orrington where he served as Public Works Foreman between 1992 and 2012. After retirement, John could be found working at Kings Mountain Christmas Tree Farm for the past 12 years. John truly loved everything about the Town of Orrington, especially the people. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending his grandkids sporting events, being with friends and family and especially with his dogs.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda (Soucie) Hodgins; son Timothy Hodgins and his wife Katie Hodgins; Beloved grandsons, Alexander Hodgins and Andrew Hodgins; siblings, Jackie Caiola and her husband Mickey Caiola, Mary-Ellen Palmieri, Elaine O’Connell and her husband Kevin O’Connell, as well as brother-in-law Allan Soucie and wife Priscilla, and many nieces, nephews and countless treasured friends.
Family and friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, South Main St., Brewer. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer with a reception time celebrating John’s life immediately afterward.
