Arline Sylvia DeMerchant, 87, died August 3, 2024, in Presque Isle. She was born September 18, 1936, in Bangor, the daughter of Frank and Anna (O’Leary) Harris.

Sylvia graduated from John Bapst High School and the University of Maine.  She had a proud 42-year teaching career at Easton High School, teaching home economics.  She was a member of the Maine Retired Teachers Association.  Sylvia’s most important role was as a farmer’s wife to her husband, Storer, and raising their family. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Storer DeMerchant.  Arline is survived by children, Storer DeMerchant, Jr. and his wife, Sandy of Caribou, Elizabeth DeMerchant of Scranton, PA and Mary DeMerchant of Easton; granddaughters, Brooke and Heather DeMerchant of Caribou; nephews, Herbert and Christopher DeMerchant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, So Main St., Brewer. Burial will follow at Mt.
