Obituary of Vivian E. Black

Vivian Evelyn Black, 97, of Brewer passed Oct. 31, 2024 in Bangor after a brief illness surrounded by her children. She was born Dec. 3, 1926 in Dixmont, the daughter of Leonard and Fannie Knowlton.

Vivian worked many years in retail for WT Grant in Bangor and later was an Avon representative. Vivian loved gardening and cultivated daylilies and irises which she shared with many of her neighbors in Brewer. Later, she had a huge vegetable garden and sold her surplus at the Brewer Farmer’s Marker where she served as Market Master for several years.

Surviving are three children, Lois Newman of Point Pleasant, NJ, Lloyd Black, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Newport and Geraldine Black of Brewer; three grandchildren, Lois Ann Stinson, Danielle Norwood, Lawrence Newman; seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one sister, Madelia “Babe” and one brother, Roger Knowlton; niece, Kathy Knowlton and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by brothers and sisters, Bob, Ernie, Rodney “Jack”, Althea and Ruth.
