Obituary of Anita I. Curtis

Anita Irene (Morrill Currier) Curtis, 85, passed away peacefully with family by her side in her Clifton home on November 3, 2024. Anita was born in New York to Mary Agatha Morrill and was later adopted by Murray Joseph Currier.

In February of 1956 Anita married her husband, Richard (Dick) Merle Curtis from Hudson, Maine. Together they raised four children. Anita and Dick recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Anita attended John Bapst High School in Bangor, Maine and she later worked as a respiratory therapist and then became a well loved school bus driver.

Although she didn’t appreciate modern technology, she found joy in watching older TV shows. She was a woman of faith and avidly listened to Catholic radio. Anita enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, foraging for fiddleheads and dandelion greens, canoeing, gold panning, and camping. She was an avid hunter in her younger days and once shot one of the biggest bucks in Maine.

She is survived by her sisters, Cathy Looke and Brenda Currier-Littlefield and her husband David; her brother, Jim Currier; three daughters, JoAnn Stewart and her husband Bob, Alison Haskell and her husband, Wayne and her daughter, Barbara Lyford and her husband, Tony; her grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Mary, Angela, Merilee, and Jeremy. She was most proud of her surviving great grandchildren, Forest, Laura, Claire, Chase, Aria and Elijah. She was predeceased by her grandson Ryan Lyford her son Ralph Curtis and his wife Cheryl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, So Main St., Brewer. Burial will be afterward at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Messages and memories may be shared with her family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
