Barbara Wallace

Obituary of Barbara Ann Wallace

Barbara A. (Philbrick) Martin Wallace, 85, passed peacefully in Bangor after a brief illness. She was born April 26, 1939 in Brewer, the daughter of Earl F. and Ann M. (Chesnes) Philbrick.

Barbara was a resident of Bangor for many years and worked as a legal secretary for area law firms. She attended church for many years at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Barbara had many likes and pastimes. Her favorite was collecting jewelry. She liked dolls, teddy bears, horses, pine trees, doves, colored leaves, Christmas lights and the color green. She really enjoyed anything to do with food including grocery shopping, cooking and eating, especially Hershey Chocolate Kisses. She was an excellent cook and made sure her son was never hungry. Watching television was another enjoyment and that included horse racing, ice skating, Columbo and Tim Conway who always made her laugh herself silly. She enjoyed watching musical performances, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and the music of Elvis, Kenny Rogers, Carrie Underwood among others. When she was in better health, Barbara loved playing scratch off lottery tickets and never missed a day. She loved going to thrift stores and looking for treasures, going for car rides, dining at Burger King and going to church.

Barbara was a good soul, an excellent person and mother and was always there when needed. Everyone that met and knew her liked her and her friends at Eastside Rehab loved her especially her smiles and laughs that would brighten their day and cheer them up. The world was definitely a better place with her in it and she kept smiling until the very end – even passing with a smile on her face if you can believe that. She was the light in my life and will be sorely missed - Rest in peace mom, I’ll always love you!

Surviving are one son, Murchie D. Martin of Bangor; a grandson, Murchie of California; a dear friend Pam Underhill of Levant and longtime friend Murchie Martin of Bangor. She was predeceased by her parents, by a brother Babe Philbrick and by a friend, Pat Elliott. She will be dearly missed by her cat, Pretty Kitty, who she named as a kitten.
