Obituary of Anita Jane Holt

Anita Jane (Malone) Holt Anita Jane Holt, 84, of Brewer, ME, passed away peacefully at Westgate Manor in Bangor, ME, on Saturday, July 2, 2016, after a long battle with dementia/Alzheimer's disease. She was born on January 13, 1932, the last surviving sibling of 12 born to Fred A. and Fern N. (Weirs) Malone of Haynesville, ME. Anita attended Houlton High School in Houlton, ME, and graduated in 1950. She spent most of her working career in nursing at Bangor City Hospital, Bangor Mental Health Institute, and private care. Her entire life was devoted to her family and friends, but none more so than her children and her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed for her love, smiles, humor, generosity, and above all...butt pinches! Anita is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald E. Holt, Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Don Jr. and Jennifer E. Holt of Mariaville, ME, David and Debra Holt of New Sharon, ME; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Rick McVicar of Hanwell, NB, Canada; granddaughter, Jennifer M. Holt of Otis, ME; grandson and wife, Jason and Crystal Ryder of Mariaville, ME; granddaughter and husband, Kellie and Dean Bowden, and great grandchildren, Austin and Meghan of Dedham, ME; grandson and wife, Daniel and Jeannette Holt, and great grandchildren, Casey, Kiley, and Katelyn of New Portland, ME; great granddaughter and husband, Lauren and Trai Boutilier, and great-great grandsons, Trai Jacob (TJ) and Kaidenn of Brewer, ME; long time friend, Twyla Margison of Bangor, ME; and a bumper crop of friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and even a few out-laws. She loved us all. A celebration of Anita's life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the family residence in Brewer, ME, starting at 1 PM till arrival of the police. The celebration will then move indoors. Private interment will be held at a later date. We would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of the Acadia Wing of Westgate Manor for their outstanding compassion and care for Mom during her stay.
