Simone Doucette

Obituary of Simone Cecile Doucette

Simone (Bouchard) Doucette, 85, passed away unexpectedly July 26, 2023, in Bangor. She was born September 13, 1937 in St. Agatha, Maine, the daughter of Claude and Anita (Dionne) Bouchard.

At 17 years old, she fell in love with the handsome and fun-loving fiddler, Lionel.  Simone and Lionel were married 67 years, until Lionel passed away in April 2023.  Together they were a force, raising six children, being charitable, and active in the church community.  Simone was a home maker extraordinaire.  She perfected frugality, was ingenious at making something out of nothing, was the master at managing the home budget, was creative, loving, patient, and always had a “can do” attitude.  She was selfless, giving of her time, energy, talent, and always had time to stop and talk.  She exuded heartfelt interest and admiration for her seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.  To each of them, she was Mem who could make and fix anything.

Surviving are five children, Lester Doucette of Bangor, Ralph Doucette and his wife, Susan, of Glenburn, Rachel Grivois and her husband, Bob, of Brewer, Bruno Doucette and his partner, Michelle, of Madawaska and Paula Daigle and her husband, Patrick, of Orono; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six siblings, Jeannine Lagasse of Madawaska, Alphe Bouchard of Plainville CT, Donald (Gloria) Bouchard of Fuguay NC, Richard (Theresa) Bouchard Bristol CT, Muriel (Omer) Pelletier of Madawaska, Leo James (Judy) of Frenchville ME.  She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Lionel; daughter, Marcella Pelletier; daughter-in-law, Rosemarie; grandson, Kyle; three siblings, Rose Marie Lavoie, Rosaire Bouchard, and Lawrence Bouchard.

Sincere and deepest appreciation to the staff at Sylvia Ross Home, and Dr. Kevyn Comstock and her assistant, Christina, for the excellent level of care over several years.
